Updates on Kittens- Sookie
Just thought I'd give you a quick update since it's been a little while. Sookie has settled in really well and seems to be growing at quite a rate now, it's strange to think that it was only a couple of months ago she practically fit into one hand! It seems that anywhere in the house is fair game for Sookie to flop down for a nap whether this is our coffee table (which she only sleeps on when she thinks we can't see!), on the dining room chairs, or stretched out in her cat bed. I think it's done Mr Darcy the world of good to have some company. They chase each other all over the house and garden and there are plenty of playfights, which I think is keeping them both well excercised! Mr Darcy has also mastered the cat flap now with Sookie's help. We've even allowed them free reign of the house at night time now because they are so well behaved (other than the odd playfight on our bed at 3am!). Anyway here are some recent pictures. All the best, Laura and Neil

Quart in a pint pot
Just had to share this picture with you all, it's Joy's suberb boy! Now 10 weeks old and getting really big. Talk about a ' Quart in a pint pot!' He was actually asleep in the wooden bowl when I first saw him, but of course by the time I had the camera on him he had woken up. He's not found his new family yet so please get in touch if you want to pop in and meet him. Be warned though you will fall in love with him!!!

Cheap ragdoll Kittens!!! Please think before you buy!!
I'm going to have a little rant or plea from the heart now! I meet a lady yesterday, who had previously spoken to me about a ragdoll kitten but said she was unable to afford my prices. She was so pleased with herself as she had brought a Ragdoll kitten for £225 ! She had the kitten with her in the craft shop she was working in! It looked a cute little thing, my first instinct was to ask it's age because it was so tiny, she told me she had collected it last Friday and it is supposedly 8 weeks!!! Far to young to be away from it's mother, it appeared much smaller than Joy's kittens which are the same age and on the thin side for my liking! My question is that how did she think she had a bargain?! When she now has to pay for the vaccinations at least 2 lots of worming , flea treatment and another 6 weeks worth of food which was going to cost £150+. Also you are setting your self up for vet visits when they are taken away from parents so young! Without the four weeks free insurance cover which comes with most pedigree kittens in most cases! What decent breeder would allow this, the answer is none if they cared about the welfare of their cats, this breeder is only in it for the money and will have made far more profit than any registered breeder this way. On top of that because she has no papers, her cat is not registered with the GCCF or another approved body, she can't be absolutely sure that she has a pedigree Ragdoll, even if you've seen both parents that is not to say one or both of them haven't got local Moggie parents! You've also not idea how closely related the parents are they could be Mother and Son, brother and sister leading to the chances of all sorts of problems!! So please , please think about it before you part with your money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sookie starts to settle in to her new home with Mr Darcy
On Thursday, something quite funny happened! Darcy had gone into the garden and Sookie was sleeping, so I went out with him. Sookie woke up and was most put out to be left inside, so started miaowing and scratching very loudly at the door, but still half asleep with her eyes closed. I opened the door a little bit and Darcy went straight up to her whilst she still had her eyes closed (in the middle of an indignant miaow) and 'kissed' her nose! That seemed to be the ice breaker, and now each morning they have a mad half hour where they chase each other across the house like a Benny Hill sketch! Sookie also followed Darcy out into the cat run, so that is their new 'hang out' area. I figure that if they are happy enough to be in the cat run tunnel together they must be getting fairly comfortable with each other.
Darcy has still been a bit jumpy and everytime he got close enought to touch her, he'd then get scared and run off, but today he appears to be have got a bit braver... he's obsessed with Sookie's tail and has been trying to catch it for the last half hour and Sookie has just rolled over and let him (until the point where he decides to munch it!).
The other thing that we've found amusing is that Sookie has rejected her Pro Plan and instead periodically grazes at Darcy's dry food bowl in full view of him, then climbs into his litter tray... Darcy seems to have accepted this however, and returns the favour by finishing off her wet food as soon as he's finished his.

Harley and Maisie
Had a lovely message this afternoon from Lisa who last year had Maisie, blue point female, one of Joy's kittens, Her sister Emma had Harley, blue mitted male with white tail tip, one of Missy's litter . As both litters were borm at the same time the kittens were all brought up together as one big litter with two Mum's!

Just got back from vets with Maisie and Harley for there annual jabs. They were as good as gold bless them. Maisie is at my mum's now for a few hours to play with Harley then when she comes back later on, no doubt Harley will be here for a while....
Maisie has settled in very well in our new house and being that it is only 5 minutes drive from Harley means they see each other no less then 4 times a week which is lovely. They are still very close and adore being with each other but thankfully Charlie and Maisie have built up a good relationship as well because he went off her when we lost Tess and Milo in November. As you can see Maisie has a lovely big garden now to play in every day, she loves the pond with the fish - TOO MUCH!!! Maisie is really starting to look like her mum which I am so happy about as I fell in love with Joy the moment I saw her. Maisie is starting to get really fluffy. She was as a kitten but then lost it to a silky coat. She is now turning into a fluff ball ever so cute. I am sure but sure I would have all of Joy's litter as she is lovely.
Forgot to say actually about how big Harley is! He is growing forever, the longest legs that dont stop. Once he starts to fill out in next couple of years he will be amazing as he is so dopey and big! Maisie is a proper little madam so cute but into EVERYTHING. She really thinks she is the boss, to the point if we say 'Maisie, No!' we get a mouthful back of her, funnniest thing ever. She is so so clever, love her to bits!!!

Buddy and Tiny Update

Remember sometime back we had to rehome 2 of Peaces kittens, Buddy and Tiny well I've had an update and some lovely photo's from Julie , including some of them discovering the garden . However I thought I would share these with you of Buddy in a beautiful crossed paw pose, them Playing in a mat Although I think that perhaps should be entitled "Isn't it your turn on the bottom now!" or " Found You!" and Tiny really making her self at home for a quick nap, it's so great to see them happy in their new home.

Max and Merlin discover out doors!

Having escaped out of both front and back doors several times our two now seem to think that they are outdoor cats and demand to go out now, with Merlin being especially vocal. They've been out in the garden but it never seems to be enough, although the promise of chicken soon brings them back inside. Merlin has also met next doors 16 year old tabby, who though she can barely walk, saw him off in an instant. Merlin has also had his first little mishap this weekend when he poked himself in the eye with something that scratched his cornea. Fortunately the antibiotic cream has cleared it up quickly and there were no secondary effects, but it had us worried for a while. True to breed type he just laid there while I opened his eye and put the cream in it. The final check with the dye this evening was funny as it ran from his eye out of his nose so when the vet turned on the UV light he had a luminous nose! Both of them are still growing of course (Merlin is now 4.5kg and Max 4.9kg) and they still seem to be getting heavier every day - especially when they jump on you first thing in the morning. I also thought I'd let you have a couple of photos to see how they are looking now. The light isn't that great in the house so having them outside in the sunshine yesterday was too good an opportunity to miss to get the camera out.

Update on Joy's kittens
After a worrying start all of Joy's kittens are thriving. The little girls opened their eye at 7 days! ( which is early ) however we are still waiting for the boys at 10 days!! They are all such big strong kittens, on the move around the box and feeding well, now it seems odd that this time last week I was concerned they might not even make it. Fingers crossed they will all keep up the good progress.

Some updated Missy kitten photo's
Joy's kittens arrive!!!
Very Busy Week! In which Joy finally had her kittens Wednesday night! Very difficult birth poor thing. She was odd all day yesterday, at lunch time she actually took my hand in her mouth and lead me to the bottom of the stairs, we went to sit on the bed but as nothing appeared to be happening I went back to work. Whilst I was in the bath last night she stood up and grabbed my arm with her paw and when I put my hand out she again grabbed it in her mouth and tried pulling me out of the bath. Finally about to she woke me by sitting on me in bed and letting birthing fluid soak me. The Problem turned out to be that just a tail was protruding and disappearing again. As it was middle of the night I tried what the vet told me last time and popped my two fingers in and managed to manipulate it enough after several more painful pushes we managed to deliver a live kitten between us! But that really started her off on the wrong foot as it obviously really hurt her. 2 was not to bad but 3 didn't arrive until 4 ish and was the same way around and gave me a real scare as it was Blue when we got that one out but and cough and a sneeze after some firm rubbing and it was in the land of the living. But this time I needed the loo! but she wasn't going to be left and actually left the kittens to come with me which concerned me. Number 4 arrived about 5, so we both collapsed exhausted and she slept with her head on my pillow whilst the babies snuzzzled in . Again when I got up at 7 she insisted on visiting bathroom with me but ran between us every time the kittens squeaked so I have put her in a cage with them whilst I sort the rest out and do the bedlinen washing! Fingers crossed we get no pneumonia in the babies after their traumatic start. We are now on day 3 and they are all looking fat and round and appear to be feeding well.

First Solid Food!
All fun and games this end the babies are now very mischievous and exploring everywhere and everything is a toy! Other
excitement this week is that the little ones have started on solid food , liquidised roast chicken and rice. This may look good but I'm not sure were the most went in them on them or me as they tend to stand in the plate then clamber over me leaving a thin layer of gunk which sets solid!

Weeks old!
Well this was a funny sight went into see them and Missy was feeding all 7 in this small cat bed! A very tight squeeze! The blue kittens in the centre looks a bit odd because Missy decided he needed a bit of a lick just as I was trying to take the photo so his face is still damp and all over the place! As you can see they are all growing well and in fact little Titch now weighs the most! That's him on the outside of the bed.Tried to give them a dish of milk a couple of days ago only Titch almost got the hang of it sort of ! He did much sneezing as he tried to suckle it up! Then realised he could lap it however it appeared the only way he could do this was by lying in the plate and lapping around himself. VERY MESSY so I'll leave it a little while before I try that again! Sorry didn't have the camera to hand at the time to record it for you all!

Day 22- active little cuties!
Well , thought I had better let you see some more photo's, as they are growing up fast, they now look more like kittens than aliens , and are starting to play with each other. We have moved them into a bigger box from the bed as poor Missy couldn't lay down to feed them in it because there are so many of them. I'm now giving them all a little extra feed to help her out. So now as soon as they hear my voice there is a rush to try and climb out of the box to be first in the queue for the milk! They are all weighing between 320- 340gms so not far off the weight of her kittens last year at the same age. So so far so good!
